RequirementsLate Model Equipment: Must meet Altom’s inspection standards. Valid CDL Class A License: Required. Tanker Endorsement (N): Required. Hazmat Endorsement (H): Preferred (must be obtained within 90 days post-hire; assistance available). TWIC Card: Preferred (or must be obtained after hire). Experience: Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience. Age Requirement: At least 23 years of age. Driving Record: Clean MVR and strong safety record essential. DOT Compliance: Must pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check. Work Ethic: Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently. Flexibility: Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations when necessary.

Role overview

This OTR Owner Operator - Tanker Driver position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The role focuses on long-haul routes, with drivers typically away from home for more than five days at a time. Over the road assignments require flexibility and a commitment to extended travel.

What you will do

  • Transport chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers, following all DOT safety regulations.
  • Maintain your truck to ensure it meets inspection standards.
  • Handle loading and unloading for ISO, Flexi-Bag, or tanker operations at various locations.
  • Keep accurate logs and complete all required paperwork, including compliance with Hazmat rules.
  • Represent Altom Transport professionally at customer sites.
  • Oversee business operations such as fuel purchasing, trip planning, and scheduling to optimize revenue.
  • Meet set mileage or hour targets to support a steady workflow.
  • Remain available for dispatch at all times as needed.
