Key ResponsibilitiesMultiphysics Simulation Development: Engineer and validate comprehensive optical and multiphysics simulation frameworks that integrate laser amplification, optical propagation, and thermal, mechanical, and fluid dynamics into predictive system models. Laser System Modeling: Construct models for complex amplifier architectures, gain media, pump configurations, and thermal management strategies to forecast efficiency, beam quality, optical distortions, and stability in high-average-power scenarios. Digital Twin Enablement: Design and maintain the simulation backbone for Focused Energy’s digital twin environment, supporting system-level optimization, trade studies, and performance predictions. Model Validation & Uncertainty Analysis: Synthesize experimental data with simulation results, perform sensitivity and uncertainty assessments, and continuously enhance models to boost predictive accuracy and decision-making confidence. Cross-Functional Design Support: Collaborate closely with optical engineers, laser physicists, and experimental teams to ensure coherence between models, prototypes, and performance objectives, guiding iterative design processes. Optimization & Acceleration: Employ surrogate models, reduced-order techniques, and optimization workflows to expedite simulations and facilitate extensive design space exploration. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create high-quality technical documentation and model descriptions to enhance usability and maintainability of internal tools.
