Key ResponsibilitiesMultiphysics Simulation Development: Create, build, and validate integrated optical and multiphysics simulation frameworks that combine laser amplification, optical propagation, thermal, mechanical, and fluid dynamics into predictive system models. Laser System Modeling: Develop models for intricate amplifier architectures, gain media, pump geometries, and thermal management systems to forecast efficiency, beam quality, optical distortions, and stability during high-average-power operation. Digital Twin Enablement: Construct and sustain the simulation framework for Focused Energy’s digital twin environment, facilitating system-level optimization, trade studies, and performance prediction. Model Validation & Uncertainty Analysis: Combine experimental data with simulation outputs, conduct sensitivity and uncertainty analyses, and continuously enhance models to boost predictive accuracy and decision-making confidence. Cross-Functional Design Collaboration: Collaborate closely with optical engineers, laser physicists, and experimental teams to ensure alignment between models, prototypes, and performance objectives — guiding design iterations effectively. Optimization & Acceleration: Utilize surrogate models, reduced-order techniques, and optimization workflows to expedite simulations and support extensive design exploration. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Generate high-quality technical documentation, model descriptions, and internal tools that are user-friendly and maintainable.
