About This Role
We are on the lookout for a passionate Operations Manager for Data Acquisition to lead and expand the system that facilitates robotics data collection across OpenAI’s robotics program. This role encompasses our robotic stations, a substantial managed workforce, and our facilities, while our engineering and research teams continuously innovate the platforms and workflows.

You will be at the core of this system, ensuring cohesive alignment across research, engineering, operations, and external partners to guarantee that data collection operates reliably and at scale. This is a pivotal ownership role, responsible for ensuring the system functions cohesively, scales across multiple sites, and continuously improves as robotics capabilities advance.

To succeed in this role, you will need exceptional cross-domain leadership skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with senior stakeholders, including robotics engineering, software teams, research leaders, operations teams, and external service partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the DAQ Operating System:

  • Manage the comprehensive system that supports robotics data collection across stations, workforce, and facilities.

  • Ensure the robotics fleet, station software, workforce execution, and infrastructure function as a unified, dependable system.

  • Establish operating rhythms, decision-making frameworks, and escalation paths to ensure seamless execution.

  • Drive substantial improvements in throughput, reliability, and data quality.

Facilitate Cross-Functional Execution:

  • Serve as the primary point of operational alignment among robotics research, engineering, and operations.

  • Clarify priorities, readiness, and constraints to ensure uninterrupted deployments.

  • Guarantee that new platforms, workflows, and capabilities are integrated smoothly into operations.

  • Provide real-world operational feedback to inform engineering and research decisions.
