Role overview
The Operations Manager will join the London-based Operations team, overseeing the full operational lifecycle of Big Potato’s products in several major markets. This position centers on order fulfillment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and improving collaboration with third-party logistics (3PL) partners. Acting as a link between Operations, Sales, and external logistics providers, the Operations Manager works to drive operational improvements, manage costs, and uphold high service standards.
Main responsibilities
Order fulfillment and logistics management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with 3PL partners in the UK, US, Germany, and Canada.
- Serve as the main contact between Operations and Sales, ensuring priorities and execution are aligned.
- Enhance operational efficiency through contract negotiation, systems integration, and performance management, meeting SLAs and KPIs.
- Supervise the Shipping Manager and coordinate logistics activities.
- Oversee inbound freight from offshore suppliers to the UK, US, and Germany, focusing on cost control, timeliness, and compliance.
- Review and approve monthly 3PL invoices, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Manage national retailer orders, including order releases in SAP, coordination with warehouses and sales, and ensuring delivery requirements are met.
- Ensure global freight moves efficiently and within budget, managing risks and addressing delays as they arise.
Stock management and allocation
- Maintain accurate inventory records in both ERP and warehouse management systems.
- Inform Sales about aged or slow-moving stock to support clearance planning.
- Manage stock reworks and keep SAP and warehouse stock data synchronized.
- Oversee stock takes and cycle counts with logistics partners.
- Allocate stock across all channels, ensuring correct system allocation for national retailers, independent retailers, ex-works customers, Amazon, and eCommerce.
Retailer demand forecasting
- Collaborate closely with Sales to manage and monitor retailer forecasts.
- Track changes in demand throughout the year and adjust operations as needed.
