The Senior Legal Counsel at Ghobash Group plays a pivotal role as a transactional lawyer, overseeing the comprehensive contract lifecycle across all companies within the Group. This position ensures that all contracts are not only commercially viable but also legally compliant and consistent with the Group’s governance and risk framework. Reporting directly to the Group Legal Director, the Senior Legal Counsel guarantees a uniform service delivery that aligns with established SLAs, supports strategic negotiations of significant value, and promotes the use and implementation of the Group’s Contract Management Tool. Additionally, this role leads a centralized contracts team, facilitating efficient and standardized contracting processes across various business units.Contract Lifecycle ManagementDirect and manage the complete process of contract drafting, review, negotiation support, finalization, execution, renewal, and termination across the Group’s diverse business entities.Provide timely, precise, and risk-conscious contract support for a broad spectrum of agreements, including sales, distribution, purchase, AMC, subcontracting, service, licensing, NDAs, and MoUs.Oversee the drafting and review processes utilizing approved templates and clause libraries while managing variances in accordance with the Group's risk appetite.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the negotiation of high-value, high-risk, and strategic contracts and to resolve any legal challenges.Contract Governance and Risk ManagementEstablish and enforce Group-wide contract governance standards, policies, and approval frameworks in line with the Group Legal function.Ensure all contracts meet the Group’s policies, Delegation of Authority (DoA), regulatory obligations, and internal control requirements.Identify, evaluate, and escalate significant contractual risks to the Group Legal Director and relevant stakeholders.Assist in internal and external audits by ensuring that contract documentation, approvals, and governance standards are met.Contract Management Tool (CMT) Implementation & AdoptionServe as the business owner for the implementation of the Group’s Contract Management Tool (CMT).Lead the definition of functional requirements, process design, and implementation, collaborating with Legal, IT, and other business stakeholders.Drive the adoption of the CMT platform across Group companies, ensuring standardized practices for drafting, approvals, repository management, and reporting.Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the effectiveness of the CMT, user engagement, and value realization.Process Standardization & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and uphold standardized contract templates, clause libraries, and negotiation playbooks applicable across various contract types.Continuously enhance contracting processes to minimize turnaround times, reduce rework, and improve contract quality.Encourage automation and self-service contracting options for low-risk, high-volume agreements.
