Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development of prototypes and certifiable safety-critical flight systems in a fast-paced startup environment. Define and document mission-related aspects of future aircraft operations from a pilot’s perspective. Communicate strategies and plans for type certification and operational approval effectively. Develop training and support documentation necessary for deploying autonomous systems in operational settings. Support system architecture development and perform trade-off studies on performance, complexity, risk, and effort. Capture system requirements and interfaces to guide avionics hardware and software development. Conduct operational safety assessments to support experimental and production missions. Provide engineering expertise in designing, developing, testing, and validating vehicle-level functions and performance.

As a Mission Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role within our Systems team, reporting directly to the Systems & Safety Manager. This team is integral in architecting systems that support advanced safety-critical functions, developing methodologies for new technologies, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

In this collaborative and experienced multi-disciplinary environment, your contributions will help expand the mission and functional capabilities of our aircraft. Your background as a pilot, combined with your engineering expertise in design and development, will greatly enhance our ability to meet the high standards of stakeholders and certification authorities. You will work alongside colleagues from various departments to create innovative solutions for unmanned aircraft operations.
