About the job

About Mastery Schools:

Established in 2001, Mastery Schools is a dynamic network of 23 K-12 public charter schools in Philadelphia and Camden, dedicated to serving over 14,000 students.

At Mastery, we are driven by a mission to equip every student with the academic and personal skills necessary for success beyond graduation. Our commitment to student achievement is not merely a goal; it is the cornerstone of our existence. Every member of our team is focused on facilitating student success and ensuring equitable learning opportunities while actively combating systemic racism and addressing disparities that limit our students' choices.

Our culture is rooted in respect, service, and the belief that the success of our students, their families, and the communities we engage will enable us to fulfill our mission. We promote a positive, inclusive environment where honesty, humor, and continuous improvement are embraced.

Join us in shaping a premier urban school district dedicated to excellence for all students. Together, we can create meaningful change.

The Opportunity:

At Mastery, we champion the philosophy that all students deserve quality education. Approximately 25% of our students have individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring they receive tailored educational opportunities. We view the IEP as a collaborative tool for teachers, parents, school administrators, case managers, related services staff, and students (when appropriate) to enhance educational outcomes for children with disabilities. We aim to redefine what is possible for all our students. Special education teachers at Mastery implement evidence-based interventions, continually monitor student progress, and make strategic adjustments to achieve optimal outcomes.

Our Specialized Services Programming offers a range of support from itinerant to supplemental levels. We prioritize integrating diverse learners within general education settings as much as possible while maintaining a low ratio of students to teachers in our special education programs. We offer specialized classrooms within our network designed for Autism Support, Emotional Support, Life Skills, and Multiple Disability Support, alongside Multi-Lingual Learner Support.

Mastery boasts a comprehensive Response to Intervention program and welcomes your passion, skills, and experiences to our team. We provide a variety of research-based curriculums to support our diverse learners.
