Qualifications

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required. At least 6 years of demonstrated experience in consulting within the solid waste sector, specifically in landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting. Engineer-in-Training (E. I. T.) certification is required; California Professional Engineer (P. E.) registration is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

Essel Environmental is seeking a talented Mid to Senior Level Solid Waste Engineer to lead and contribute to a variety of impactful solid waste management projects. In this dynamic role, you will take charge of project management, proposal development, and engage directly with both public and private clients, focusing on client relations, marketing, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities: You will oversee project management, drive business development, and mentor staff. Your primary focus will be on solid waste management initiatives, encompassing landfill gas management, landfill infrastructure, composting, and more. Responsibilities may include aspects of design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operational support. You have the flexibility to work from our San Diego, Long Beach, Pleasanton, or Sacramento office, and remote work options are available for California residents.

  • Utilize extensive knowledge in engineering and scientific principles to address solid waste challenges.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical drawings, reports, and permit applications.
  • Independently resolve complex engineering issues and manage project timelines effectively.
  • Perform fieldwork under varying conditions, including surveys and inspections.
  • Execute office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, mathematical modeling, and permit submissions.
  • Engage in business development activities, including proposal writing and client meetings.
  • Seek technical guidance for complex problems and obtain supervisory approval for project plans.
