What You'll Do:
- Design and integrate the complete fuel system for a hybrid-electric prototype aircraft.
- Take ownership of the fuel system architecture, including tanks, pumps, valves, filters, lines, and associated components.
- Utilize 3D CAD to layout and control the configuration of the fuel system, ensuring proper routing and integration with the airframe.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify, evaluate, and select suitable COTS components for fuel system applications.
- Lead trade studies and design analyses aimed at optimizing weight, reducing system complexity, and enhancing reliability.
- Oversee the prototype development process, including requirements, design, BOM, procurement, assembly, testing, and qualification.
- Perform calculations to verify fuel flow rates, pressure drops, pump performance, and system margins.
- Work closely with powertrain, airframe, and structural teams to ensure effective fuel system integration.
- Develop verification testing strategies and support rigorous qualification testing (flow testing, pressure testing, vibration, etc.).
- Create and review technical drawings, system schematics, installation plans, and specifications.
- Assist in developing and documenting requirements for fuel system performance and safety.
- Conduct design reviews and present trade study findings to stakeholders.
