ABOUT THE ROLE

As a part of CannonDesign’s Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), we prioritize our people and are excited to expand our team with a new Mechanical Assessor. The right candidate will take charge of the mechanical and plumbing evaluations during facility condition assessments across various sectors, including healthcare, education, sports, public, and commercial assets.

In the role of Mechanical Assessor, you will be tasked with observing, identifying, and documenting the mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems of designated properties. You will pinpoint any deficiencies and offer actionable recommendations, complete with budget estimates to rectify these issues. Furthermore, you will mentor junior Architectural Assessors within your team, uphold quality standards, liaise with clients and their facility staff, and assist Project Managers with various assignments.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Conduct on-site facility condition assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team, focusing on mechanical and plumbing systems. This includes identifying deficiencies in HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers while providing detailed reports on critical issues and remediation suggestions.
  • Collaborate with clients and other on-site personnel to evaluate client assets, achieving a daily assessment rate of 100,000 to 225,000 square feet.
  • Assess condition, remaining useful life, necessary costs, and remedial actions.
  • Deliver technical descriptions of deficiencies, ranging from minor concerns to significant issues.
  • Provide detailed recommendations for corrections to aid future project planning and cost estimation.
  • Engage with building operations and maintenance staff to gather insights on building history, prior work orders, and operational data.
  • Compile project progress documentation for review by project managers.
  • Review peer work and actively contribute to post-project evaluations.
