About the job

About Standard Bots

At Standard Bots, we are on a mission to revolutionize the industrial robotics sector with our cutting-edge technology that is not only powerful and affordable but also scalable. As we transition from prototype to high-volume production, we recognize the necessity for a robust engineering foundation. This pivotal role is essential to our success.

Note: This position requires a presence at our Glen Cove, NY robotics factory five days a week.

The Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing & Process Engineering Manager to take charge of our robot assembly processes — overseeing everything from process design to continuous enhancement on the production floor. You will lead a small, early-stage team and build the manufacturing engineering function from the ground up. This includes establishing engineering standards, ensuring seamless integration between product design and production, and driving automation to maximize efficiency.

In this player-coach role, you will engage with the details — crafting process documentation, designing fixtures, and conducting DFM reviews — all while mentoring your team and shaping the future of manufacturing engineering at Standard Bots.

You will report directly to the Head of Manufacturing, managing both manufacturing engineering and process engineering as a cohesive unit.

What You'll Do

Process Engineering & DFM

  • Lead design-for-manufacturability reviews in collaboration with product and mechanical engineering teams to identify issues before they reach the production stage.

  • Define, document, and take ownership of manufacturing processes for both new and existing robot assemblies.

  • Design and validate fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions to ensure consistent and repeatable assembly processes.

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across assembly, testing, and material handling operations.

Manufacturing Process Improvement

  • Lead quality and throughput enhancement initiatives on the production floor — establishing baselines, identifying root causes, and implementing measurable changes.

  • Create and maintain process documentation (work instructions, BOMs, routings) to a standard ready for production.

  • Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure that process improvements are effectively executed on the production floor.

  • Establish engineering metrics to monitor process capability, yield, and cycle time over time.

Team & Function Building

  • Build a high-performing team and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

About Standard Bots
