Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Computational Engineering, Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field with a strong foundation in data analysis and Machine Learning methodologies. Proficient knowledge and/or experience in developing and applying algorithms in areas such as deep learning, representation learning, few-shot learning, active learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, ensemble methods, and statistical modeling. Proficient in one or more programming languages, including Python, Java, Scala, or C/C++. Experience with deep learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or Caffe. Demonstrated ability to conduct original research and articulate findings through peer-reviewed publications. Experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and project managers to leverage these capabilities in engineering contexts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and technical presentation.

Join the Applied Physics team as a Machine Learning Specialist at our Advanced Propulsion Laboratory in New York! We are looking for a driven and talented individual to engage in pioneering research within dynamic and evolving fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and analyze advanced Machine Learning algorithms tailored to specific challenges.
  • Develop, train, and validate algorithms for targeted problem areas.
  • Assist in integrating these algorithms into comprehensive programmatic systems that depend on such technologies.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment to achieve research objectives.
  • Engage in both independent and joint research initiatives while collaborating with a diverse range of scientists within and outside the Laboratory.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences, seminars, and meetings.
  • Travel as necessary to coordinate with collaborators and conduct site visits.
