About the job

Legal Counsel

About Outpost

Imagine if expanding your business globally was as straightforward as operating locally.

At Outpost, we're pioneering an AI-driven global trade engine, encapsulating the extensive knowledge of regulations necessary for international sales into a robust infrastructure. Inform us about your products, and we'll guide you on how to sell them across various markets.

We function as the Merchant of Record or Tax of Record within over 58 tax jurisdictions, ensuring full liability transfer, or just managing the tax layer. We conduct thorough analyses, facilitate setups, and absorb the liability on your behalf.

Sell anything, anywhere, without compromise.

The Role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel eager to advance their career within a rapidly growing fintech company. In this role, you will report directly to the CEO and engage with a comprehensive legal scope encompassing commercial contracts, payment regulations, AML, corporate governance, and fundraising.

Your responsibilities may focus deeply on one area while also allowing you to explore others. The evolution of this role will mirror your professional growth.

Operating at the nexus of payments, tax, and global commerce means engaging with Visa/Mastercard scheme rules, EMI and PSD2 frameworks, AML programs, and commercial agreements with enterprise clientele. Expect to learn quickly and take on meaningful work from day one.

This is not a supportive position. You will draft contracts, provide regulatory advice, assist in developing compliance programs, and participate in fundraising. You will influence how Outpost operates in new markets, and as the company scales, so will your responsibilities.

What You'll Get

While the work is demanding, you will gain exposure and ownership that many legal professionals do not experience until much later in their careers.

Collaborating closely with the CEO, you will engage with all facets of the legal function and contribute to the infrastructure that enables Outpost's global expansion. If you aspire to transition into a legal leadership role at a transformative company, this is your launchpad.

What You'll Do

Commercial & Contracts

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements: MSAs, merchant contracts, partnership arrangements.

  • Develop scalable contract templates and playbooks.

  • Assist in enterprise deals involving legal diligence during the sales process.

Payments Regulation
