The Role
As the Lead Engineer for Passive RF Sensing, you will be responsible for the end-to-end integration and performance of electronic surveillance systems in aircraft, such as the Radar Warning Receiver (RWR/ESM). Your primary focus will be on translating mission threats into sensor requirements, defining the antenna architecture for optimal direction-finding, and managing the emitter library data. A key aspect of your role will be to lead co-site coordination to protect sensitive receivers from onboard transmitters and to drive the verification campaign to deliver a fully qualified sensor system.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Oversee the daily integration and performance of passive RF sensors (ESM/ELS/RWR functions as applicable) from requirements through to flight testing.
Translate mission threat scenarios into well-defined sensor requirements.
Define antenna/array architecture, placement, and baseline geometry for direction-finding and RF distribution.
Lead and enhance direction-finding performance efforts.
Specify and validate sensor performance metrics.
Manage library and classification support, including emitter parameter sets, mode/PRI/PW/frequency agility handling, confidence metrics, and the update process.
