Extensive experience supporting assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft mechanisms and mechanical subsystems. Proficient in building and integrating mechanisms sub-assemblies and top-level assemblies. Adept at supporting the integration of mechanisms assemblies onto spacecraft structures and systems. Experienced in conducting developmental, qualification, and acceptance testing of mechanisms and spacecraft hardware. Skilled in performing spacecraft-level inspections and verification activities during integration and testing phases. Ability to identify hardware anomalies during build, integration, or testing phases and escalate issues for further investigation. Provide comprehensive feedback to engineering teams regarding hardware performance, design challenges, and process improvement opportunities. Lead complex assembly and integration tasks while supervising and mentoring junior technicians. Train and develop less experienced technicians on proper assembly techniques, processes, and quality standards.

Position Overview

As AST SpaceMobile accelerates its production capabilities to support multiple satellite launches each month, we are seeking skilled Mechanisms Engineering Technicians to join our Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) team. Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience working with flight hardware in satellite or launch environments.

This role involves leading hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft mechanisms, including deployment systems, actuators, hinges, and release devices that are essential for satellite operation.

The Senior Mechanisms Engineering Technician will contribute significant hands-on expertise with high-reliability hardware within aerospace environments. This role will oversee complex build and test operations, mentor junior technicians, and provide insightful feedback to engineering teams to enhance hardware designs, production processes, and workflows.

This position demands a highly interactive engagement with precision hardware in a primarily manual assembly setting, requiring keen technical judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and effective leadership within technician teams.
