About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to spearhead the development of innovative, real-time applications for drone pilots, first responders, and mission commanders. As a vital member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of drones as essential infrastructure by creating intuitive, resilient, and high-performance user interfaces that deliver critical video, telemetry, and control functionalities.
Your Impact:
Drive innovation in UI/UX for Skydio's real-time browser flight interface.
Craft mission and mapping workflows in 3D utilizing geospatial data.
Enhance browser performance through process splitting and web workers.
Foster an engineering culture centered around best practices through code reviews and technical discussions.
Empower pilots to undertake complex multi-drone operations effortlessly.
Collaborate with the autonomy team and iterate on features based on field feedback.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and launching customer-facing frontend applications.
Proficient in modern web technologies including React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and WebGL/Three.js.
Demonstrated ability to architect systems that prioritize scalability, reliability, and user-friendliness.
Strong product intuition with a keen understanding of users operating in high-pressure scenarios.
Experience in cross-functional teamwork to deliver intricate, integrated features from conception to deployment.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with geospatial data visualization tools like Mapbox or Cesium.
Knowledge of photogrammetry, scanning, mapping, or rendering workflows.
Experience linking frontend applications with cloud-based services (AWS, Temporal, Kubernetes).
