About the job
Lead Product Designer
US-Based | Full-Time - Austin TX & Charlotte NC are preferred
About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Product Designer to spearhead our design team at Olly Olly. This role is a combination of leadership and hands-on design, where you will be accountable for the quality of design outcomes, not merely the volume of output. You will primarily focus on managing and enhancing your team's performance, while dedicating approximately 20-30% of your time to directly contribute as a designer on key projects.
At Olly Olly, we value practical, swift, and thoughtful design. We are looking for someone who integrates AI into the design process—seeing it as an essential component rather than just a supplementary tool. You will empower the team to leverage large language models (LLMs) and prototyping tools for greater efficiency, enhanced clarity, and earlier testing of ideas, all while upholding superior standards for craftsmanship, usability, and clarity.
You will report to our Chief Product Officer (CPO) and collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to ensure our designs are not just aesthetically pleasing mockups but also deliver exceptional user experiences.

Your Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of a three-member design team, facilitating design reviews, removing obstacles, providing constructive feedback, and enhancing quality standards.
Develop and maintain the design system and visual language for our core product to ensure uniformity across all screens and interactions.
Create UX flows, wireframes, and prototypes for new features, guiding them from initial problem identification to production-ready specifications.
Conduct design quality assurance to ensure that the final products align with the original designs.
Enhance collaboration between product, design, and engineering teams, ensuring that design considerations are incorporated early in the problem definition phase, rather than merely during UI implementation.
Work alongside engineering and product teams in sprint planning, roadmap prioritization, and decision-making regarding trade-offs.
Review outputs from the UI and web design team to ensure visual coherence across brand and product design.
Foster a culture of prototyping and early validation by encouraging the team to test concepts before full development.
