Key Responsibilities:Utilize your Systems Engineering expertise within a cohesive team to design, develop, implement, and deploy advanced software systems. Analyze, reverse-engineer, and define requirements from ambiguous or incomplete software system implementations and codebases. Create documentation such as Systems Requirements Documents and SysML models to capture the requirements of both new and existing systems. Conduct gap analyses between derived requirements and current system capabilities to identify missing features or functionalities. Support other technical contributors throughout the software lifecycle, from early prototypes to fully integrated systems. Apply MBSE methodologies utilizing SysML in Cameo. Collaborate closely with domain experts and software development teams to realize program designs for various applications, including:Distributed mission planningIntelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) management

Systems Technology Research (STR) is hiring a Lead Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) in Dayton, OH. This role centers on supporting Department of Defense (DoD) mission areas by applying model-based systems engineering methods throughout the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.

Role overview

The Lead Model-Based Systems Engineer guides projects from requirements analysis through system and software development, ensuring architectural integrity and traceability up to production deployment. This position works within STR's Systems Development Division, collaborating with experts from engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science to address national security challenges.

  • Apply a rigorous MBSE approach to support the development of advanced DoD systems
  • Reverse engineer and manage complex software systems
  • Use Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to meet program objectives
  • Guide projects through the full Systems Engineering Lifecycle
