ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are designing powered wearable robots for daily use, blending motor control, real-time embedded systems, and edge computing. As our Firmware Engineering Lead, you will guide a small, expert team while remaining actively involved in critical systems development.
You will establish the technical standards for firmware development at Skip and mentor the engineers in your team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and expand a dedicated firmware engineering team, encompassing hiring, mentorship, and technical oversight.
Oversee end-to-end embedded C/C++ development across our technology stack, including FreeRTOS, interrupt management, JTAG/SWD debugging, and chip initialization.
Manage data communication between peripherals and microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, and successors), focusing on Wi-Fi and BLE integration.
Implement secure OTA pipelines and bootloader strategies.
Develop and maintain AWS IoT Core infrastructure, including mTLS, MQTT, fleet provisioning, and IoT Jobs OTA.
Design firmware solutions for motor control across various actuators, including BLDCs, custom PMSM, and axial flux motors.
Provide technical direction for chip selection, actuator firmware needs, and future system architecture.
Collaborate on adjacent product development to enhance our offerings and impact.
