About the job
Join Archer Aerospace, a pioneering aerospace firm located in San Jose, California, dedicated to revolutionizing air travel with our innovative all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our mission is to enhance sustainable air mobility by designing, manufacturing, and operating an aircraft that not only accommodates four passengers but also minimizes noise pollution.
We aspire to reach new heights and tackle complex challenges, believing that a diverse workforce fuels smarter solutions and drives success. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment that values and celebrates the unique contributions of every team member.
Your Role:
- Design and define the architecture for the aircraft's high voltage to low voltage power conversion and distribution systems, ensuring integration with power electronics converters, batteries, power distribution units, circuit breakers, and avionics interfaces.
- Conduct critical technical assessments for the power conversion and distribution systems to fulfill aircraft functionality and safety standards while optimizing performance in terms of weight and cost.
- Establish a comprehensive system development roadmap aligned with program requirements and timelines, including make versus buy analyses for essential components and modules.
- Lead electrical load assessments and optimize power budgets across the system.
- Formulate requirements for the power conversion and distribution systems, translating aircraft requirements into actionable system specifications while defining key features and characteristics.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to specify requirements for system modules and circuit boards, overseeing the validation and verification processes.
- Conduct safety and reliability analyses for electrical systems, supporting both aircraft-level and module-level assessments.
- Oversee the integration of power conversion and distribution systems into aircraft platforms, planning and approving tests including module acceptance, integration, and safety of flight tests.
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of airborne power conversion and distribution modules in accordance with established aircraft and electrical system requirements.
