Role Overview: Lead Consultant in Health and Local Government

The Lead Consultant plays a central role in shaping and delivering transformation for clients. This position manages workstreams valued around £2 million, develops solutions to complex challenges, and sets key performance indicators (KPIs) for both team and client. Building strong relationships with mid-level client contacts and fostering a culture of continuous improvement are core to success in this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of up to four consultants, using advanced analysis and modeling to identify and deliver significant improvement opportunities for clients.
  • Review and assess workstream designs proposed by Principal Consultants or Business Managers within the program.
  • Work closely with program leaders to ensure your workstream’s KPIs align with broader client goals and organizational outcomes.
  • Set clear, measurable KPIs for both your team and the client, and establish effective governance practices to support daily progress reviews and successful project delivery.
  • Engage directly with client counterparts on-site to monitor progress, address challenges, and support performance improvement, either personally or through your team, while also helping to build client capabilities.
  • Craft and communicate a clear narrative for stakeholders, from frontline managers to senior executives, and collaborate with program leads to present this narrative to senior client stakeholders, helping to remove barriers to progress.
  • Identify and escalate risks proactively to maintain project momentum and ensure smooth execution.
