Role Overview
The Lead Communications Systems Engineer will guide a team focused on designing and building communications and data link systems for Coherent Distributed Networks. This work supports both enhancements to existing CHAOS sensor products and the creation of new product families centered on advanced communications technology.
- Lead the design and development of innovative communications and data link systems for CDN.
- Advance capabilities of current CHAOS sensor products.
- Develop new product lines in advanced communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop directive data links to connect nodes within a CDN.
- Implement strategies to reduce RF signature from data links.
- Work with timing specialists to integrate precise time-transfer algorithms into the network.
- Drive new communications capabilities with minimal supervision.
- Source or develop durable, cost-effective hardware for data links in tactical, mobile environments.
- Research and apply methods for node positioning without GPS.
- Create and refine algorithms for advanced directional beamforming.
- Optimize algorithms for real-time operation within resource constraints.
- Implement algorithms in software (such as C++, Python, MATLAB) and/or hardware (such as FPGAs).
