Role overview
The Lab Architect leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of Archer's integrated lab ecosystem supporting eVTOL programs. This work covers Iron Bird platforms, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems, and a range of simulation and testing infrastructure. The position blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, shaping the technical foundation for testing aircraft systems from early prototypes through FAA certification.
What you will do
- Design and architect the integrated lab ecosystem, including Iron Birds, HILs, and system benches.
- Establish simulation architecture that connects aircraft systems, simulation models, and hardware in real time.
- Define physical, electrical, networking, and computational infrastructure for the labs.
- Lead cross-disciplinary design reviews for new test platforms and upgrades.
- Enhance configuration management and traceability to support certification.
- Collaborate with certification authorities during testing, audits, inspections, and method reviews.
- Develop long-term plans to integrate AI, machine learning, and automation into lab operations, including automated testing and data pipelines.
- Provide technical mentorship and guide architectural decisions across lab projects.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building complex aerospace testing labs and integrating real-time simulation environments.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through system integration and regulatory compliance.
- Background in advancing automation and AI-driven workflows to improve testing efficiency and scalability.
