Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technology or an equivalent certification. A minimum of 5 years of drafting experience in construction and as-built projects, with a preference for telecommunications and structural design. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. Strong knowledge of 2D/3D CAD and manual drafting techniques. Familiarity with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is considered an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Excellent analytical and computing skills. Experience with MicroStation, Elecdes, GIS, and/or Navisworks is advantageous. Proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, BIM, or Inventor is preferred. Experience with Point Clouds and Clash Detection is beneficial. Familiarity with Autodesk Vault is an asset. Understanding of customization programming for AutoCAD is a plus. Knowledge of safety design codes is required. Strong comprehension of telecom infrastructure components. Experience reviewing site survey data is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other professionals to prepare detailed civil, structural, and telecommunications drawings using CAD software.
  • Design layouts for Telecom panels, cabinets, and racks, manage cable routings, and develop fiber network configurations, grounding details, flow diagrams, and schematics.
  • Create bills of materials, nameplates, cable schedules, and various structure data sheets.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively to meet timelines.
  • Ensure high accuracy and attention to detail, adhering to engineering standards and client specifications.
  • Identify design conflicts and potential drawing discrepancies.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Communicate effectively with designers and project managers.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to devise practical solutions.
  • Adapt quickly to new software platforms and client standards.
  • Occasionally participate in field/site visits as necessary.
