Join IDB Bank as a Junior SQL Server Database Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our commercial banking application databases and managing production database administration. This entry-level position is designed for candidates with 0 to 1 year of experience, and you will collaborate closely with both onshore and offshore teams. In our fast-paced environment, forward-thinking skills and a strong team-oriented mindset are essential. You will be responsible for 24/7 production support, hygiene maintenance, performance tuning, and potential exposure to cloud technologies.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the Onshore DBA for the bank's data infrastructure, ensuring the reliability of mission-critical 24/7 production databases using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Work collaboratively with application development and production support teams to enhance the performance of various application databases, advocating for optimal database design including partitioning, triggers, index analysis, stored procedures, views tuning, user-defined functions, and various data types.
  • Implement and support automated High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA-DR) solutions, such as SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, to synchronize production and recovery environments.
  • Participate in annual disaster recovery testing, planning, and execution to maintain a robust and resilient on-premise data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to ensure timely implementation of critical patching, upgrades, cloning, best practices documentation, and database migrations, while adhering to CIS security standards to harden data infrastructure.
  • Submit weekly timesheets and provide project status reports as part of job responsibilities, following SDLC standards and change control best practices while assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to a high-volume work environment characterized by rapid changes, tight deadlines, and multitasking.
  • Implement SQL Server features such as SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS, with a focus on optimizing ETL and ELT processes for data warehouse batch jobs.
  • Manage backup encryption and TLS certificates to secure communication within the data infrastructure, establishing hygiene best practices for daily, weekly, and monthly backups stored in AWS-S3.
  • Engage with third-party fintech vendors to modernize and optimize the database portfolio.
