Job Summary
Aretum is in search of a talented and enthusiastic User Experience Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage user-centered design methodologies to oversee the entire design process from inception to execution. Your primary responsibilities will include the creation of wireframes and prototypes utilizing a robust design system. Furthermore, you will conduct usability testing and accessibility audits to guarantee that our final products align with user needs and expectations.
Given the nature of our work in federal consulting, employees may be required to manage Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must comply with all relevant safeguarding and compliance protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and data analysis to extract insights from end-users, stakeholders, and existing data.
- Identify design opportunities, requirements, and constraints to guide design decisions through a user-centered design (UCD) process.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, process flows, and interactive prototypes to visualize solutions for application/system features.
- Define, design, and maintain Design System components, libraries, utilities, and patterns to ensure consistency.
- Implement shared UX templates and global components across projects to maintain design uniformity.
- Collaborate closely with SCRUM teams, federal Product Owners, developers, and other stakeholders to brainstorm solutions, address challenges, and refine designs based on iterative feedback.
- Engage in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Conduct usability testing, accessibility audits, and validation sessions to assess designs, iterating based on user feedback.
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. 794d) and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards to deliver intuitive and efficient user experiences.
- Maintain thorough documentation, demos, and the Design System website/Figma toolkit library.
- Offer guidance to teams on best practices for utilizing design system components and enterprise features.
- Support cross-functional agile development within a SAFe framework, contributing to program increments, roadmaps, and velocity goals.
- Mentor SCRUM teams on UX-related topics, advocating for user-centered principles throughout the design process.
