The Technical Resource Advisor will play a critical role in overseeing all plumbing operations across NYCHA properties. The selected candidate will ensure that plumbing tasks are executed with technical precision while adhering to all applicable governmental regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leveraging a Master Plumber’s license to obtain necessary work permits from the Department of Buildings (DOB) for all plumbing activities at NYCHA buildings; supervising projects under their license and ensuring compliance with DOB regulations.
2. Ensuring adherence to NYCHA gas regulations related to gas service restoration; overseeing the final gas testing and restoration process for NYCHA residents, ensuring their access to cooking, heating, and hot water services.
3. Conducting field visits across all five boroughs to monitor and verify compliance of work performed under DOB permits; collaborating with borough plumbers to ensure all permitted work aligns with codes and schedules.
4. Providing expert technical support and guidance on plumbing matters to borough plumbing supervisors and maintenance staff. This support may extend to assisting other municipalities and city agencies, as well as reviewing capital projects and plumbing contracts.
5. Managing contract work and ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry best practices in contract documents.
6. Evaluating material submissions on behalf of the authority and making approvals based on industry standards.
Note: A valid NYC Master Plumbing License and a New York State Driver’s License are mandatory for this position.
Additionally, as a licensed plumber, the role may entail working as a DOB inspector upon mutual agreement between NYCHA and DOB to conduct inspections related to gas piping installation or replacement.
Note: Candidates must possess permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor Plumber to be considered for this role due to the presence of a civil service list.
