Join Our Team: Messaging Strategy Frontend (Messaging Product Group)
The Messaging Product Group develops the applications and infrastructure that fuel marketing emails, SMS, and WhatsApp communications within HubSpot. We operate at a significant scale, delivering billions of messages every month. Our focus is on building reliable systems while consistently innovating our product to assist customers in achieving superior outcomes.
The Messaging Strategy Frontend team creates the vital customer-facing experiences that marketers rely on daily to design, manage, and publish marketing emails and SMS. This is the platform where marketers strategize campaigns, refine content, and make decisions that directly influence their results as they expand their reach with HubSpot.
As a Technical Lead II, you will serve as a player-coach in this domain, directing technical strategy, influencing product execution, and guiding a dedicated team in delivering high-quality experiences that marketers depend on daily.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead a high-impact frontend team in developing and enhancing core Marketing Email and SMS management experiences (dashboards, creation flows, send/review UIs, experimentation, and onboarding surfaces).
- Write high-quality React/TypeScript code while providing guidance on architectural decisions, reviewing designs, and assisting team members in overcoming obstacles.
- Own the technical strategy for the frontend surface area of the team, including modular architecture, design system implementation, and cross-app/library integrations across Messaging.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Product Design leadership to establish goals, sequence work, and make informed trade-offs balancing customer impact, reliability, and development speed.
- Lead medium-to-large, multi-quarter initiatives from problem definition to technical proposals, implementation, rollout, and performance measurement.
- Advocate for reliability and service maturity in our frontend applications. Define SLIs/SLOs, enhance performance (bundle size, latency), and ensure adherence to our performance targets.
- Mentor and develop engineers on the team through design reviews, code reviews, collaborative coding sessions, and one-on-one meetings, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Work closely with backend and infrastructure teams across Messaging to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
