As a Software Engineer on the Airspace team, you will be instrumental in developing major subsystems within our airspace management and control platform. You will design robust backend services and influence system architecture while tackling challenges where reliability and accuracy are paramount.
This role is perfect for an experienced engineer who enjoys working with complex systems, takes clear ownership of their projects, and wants to see their contributions directly affect real-world operations.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of services related to routing, conflict resolution, airspace management, and ground control.
Oversee the complete delivery of complex features, from initial design through deployment and subsequent monitoring.
Engage with Java, C++, and Python services, utilizing Postgres as a core data store.
Develop and refine APIs and data models that facilitate real-time decision-making.
Design systems considering failure modes, observability, and recovery protocols.
Work closely with Aircraft, QA, and Operations teams to ensure safe and effective system performance.
Contribute to the establishment of technical standards and best practices within the Airspace domain.
Assume ownership of technical decisions and facilitate delivery as required.
Requirements
Demonstrated professional experience in building backend or systems software in a production environment.
Proficiency in Java or C++ (experience in both is advantageous); familiarity with Python is a plus.
Experience with designing and managing services in distributed or real-time systems.
A solid understanding of relational databases, particularly Postgres.
Proven track record of owning features or subsystems end-to-end.
Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with routing, optimization, simulation, or systems related to autonomy.
A background in safety-critical environments, robotics, aviation, or other high-reliability sectors is preferred.
