About the job
At Databricks, we are dedicated to empowering data teams to tackle the world's most challenging issues—from realizing innovative transportation solutions to expediting medical advancements. Our mission is realized through the development and management of the premier data and AI infrastructure platform, enabling our clients to harness profound data insights to elevate their businesses. Founded by engineers with a customer-centric approach, we eagerly embrace every opportunity to confront technical challenges, ranging from designing next-generation UI/UX for data interfacing to scaling our services across millions of virtual machines. We are just getting started!
Our engineering teams craft sophisticated products that address critical needs globally. We operate one of the largest-scale software platforms, comprising millions of virtual machines that generate terabytes of logs and process exabytes of data daily. Given our scale, we frequently encounter cloud hardware, network, and operating system issues, and our software must adeptly shield our customers from these challenges.
Unity Catalog serves as our platform's native unified and open governance framework for data and AI, eliminating silos, streamlining governance, and accelerating insights at scale. We are on the lookout for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Unity Catalog Runtime Enforcement initiative. This role involves building and fortifying the runtime enforcement layer for Unity Catalog, ensuring secure and consistent authorization and data access across Databricks compute, engines, and cloud environments. This initiative aims to minimize incidents and simplify customer decision-making by unifying enforcement semantics.
