Welcome to Oscar! We are on the lookout for a passionate Senior Software Engineer specializing in Cloud Infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to become an integral part of our Engineering team.

Role Overview:
As a member of our Core Technology teams, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining the foundational platform that supports all Oscar engineering initiatives. Your focus will be on architecting a robust and resilient ecosystem utilizing a modern technology stack centered on AWS/GCP, Terraform, and Kubernetes, paired with developer-centric tools and CI/CD practices. Our mission is to deliver automated, self-service infrastructure that empowers our engineering teams to innovate rapidly while ensuring security and stability.
You will report directly to a Staff or Senior Staff Engineer.
Work Location: This position is located in our New York City office, following a hybrid work model with three days in the office each week. Thursdays will be mandatory in-office days for team meetings and events, while the other two office days can be scheduled flexibly to accommodate your needs. #LI-Hybrid
Pay Transparency: The base salary for this role ranges from $180,504 to $236,911 annually. Additionally, you will be eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop deep expertise in your team’s business and technical domains, including DevOps, site reliability, and cloud best practices.
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects across various teams beyond Core Technology.
- Collaborate with partners, product managers, and designers to tackle challenging problems.
- Mentor and guide engineers within the team to enhance technology usage and apply industry best practices.
- Take independent ownership of significant technology capabilities across your team's domain or spanning multiple domains.
- Facilitate and enhance cross-team execution and collaboration, actively mitigating risks to ensure timely project delivery.
- Contribute significantly to the objectives of your functional group and organization-wide projects.
- Drive the prioritization of the technical roadmap and influence the prioritization of product roadmaps and process improvements.
- Identify and address potential failure domains, designing and building resilient systems.
