About the job
About Our Team:
Join the Analytical Development group within AbbVie’s Targeted LNP (tLNP) CMC Team, where we are committed to enhancing cutting-edge analytical capabilities for mRNA-lipid nanoparticle therapeutics. Our team plays a vital role in supporting drug substance (DS) and drug product (DP) manufacturing along with formulation development. We implement robust analytical methodologies to assure the quality, safety, and integrity of tLNP genetic medicines. Using advanced biophysical, separation, and mass spectrometry techniques, we deeply characterize intact LNP particles and foster strong collaborations across CMC, drug product formulation, and with external partners to build a world-class team of scientists essential for delivering innovative tLNP medicines to patients.
Position Overview:
As a Particle Characterization Expert within AbbVie’s Analytical Development team, you will spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive characterization strategies for intact drug products. Utilizing a sophisticated array of biophysical and analytical tools—including DLS, NTA, AF4/MALS, TEM/CryoEM, and DSF/DSC—you will ensure the highest standards of quality and effectiveness for tLNP genetic medicines. We seek candidates with diverse scientific backgrounds and strong experience to join our dynamic Analytical R&D team, offering rewarding career advancement opportunities. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with global Analytical CMC teams and cross-functional R&D partners such as Discovery, Pre-Clinical Safety, Process Chemistry, and Quality Assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate as a principal research scientist to generate original technical ideas and innovative research strategies.
- Design, optimize, and perform characterization assays for drug products (intact LNPs), focusing on parameters such as particle size, morphology, aggregation, and surface characteristics using platforms like DLS, NTA, MALS, and CryoEM.
- Lead scientific proposals and anticipate regulatory advancements or competitive challenges to adapt strategies accordingly.
- Exhibit scientific initiative and creativity in research activities while maintaining high productivity levels.
