The Department of State (DOS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Program Manager to lead critical modernization initiatives. The DOS plays a vital role in safeguarding public health and safety by overseeing the licensing of over one million business and health professionals. It ensures the integrity of elections, supports economic growth through corporate registrations, maintains financial information for thousands of charities, and regulates the professional combat sports industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage high-priority IT projects impacting the commonwealth, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide comprehensive project oversight, organizing and prioritizing work across project teams.
- Facilitate reviews with the project steering committee, reporting updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Develop and monitor project service commitments and training needs.
- Manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and advising stakeholders.
- Conduct detailed analyses of project management metrics and spearhead final project evaluations with stakeholders.
Project Management Plan:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a robust project management plan, refining tasks and milestones according to scope, resources, and budget.
- Make informed decisions to mitigate project risks based on sound analysis and best practices.
- Oversee project scope management and secure approval for any scope changes from relevant stakeholders.
Project Schedule:
- Manage and track project progress, coordinating schedules across multiple teams and ensuring workload balance.
- Monitor milestones and phases, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain timelines.
- Notify team leads of important project milestones and phase transitions.
