About the Role
In the role of Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and creating the distributed systems that drive our optimization engine. Your responsibilities will encompass real-time scheduling, workload execution, performance analysis, and the development of internal compute environments that facilitate safe and efficient workload management.
You will take ownership of key architectural components, enhance reliability and performance, and work closely with our founders and engineering team to shape the long-term technical vision. This is a highly technical position focused on deep systems engineering.
What You’ll Work On
Design, develop, and scale Espresso's distributed execution and scheduling systems.
Create internal compute environments to effectively manage workloads from Snowflake and Databricks.
Conduct compiler-style analysis and optimization for SQL workloads.
Construct infrastructure and data pipelines that support machine learning models and product functionalities.
Enhance performance, reliability, and observability across the platform.
Influence architectural decisions and contribute to engineering strategy as a pivotal early team member.
Mentor junior engineers as the team expands, instilling strong engineering principles and ensuring high-quality delivery.
What You Bring
7+ years of experience in software engineering.
Solid foundations in systems design, performance engineering, and debugging.
Proven ability to oversee complex technical projects from inception to completion.
Adept at handling a wide array of infrastructure challenges.
