At Aquablu, we are committed to designing and constructing hardware that performs reliably in real-world environments, not just in theory. This is where you come in.
You will serve as the vital link between product design and manufacturing realities, transforming conceptual designs into scalable, manufacturable, and cost-effective products. Your role will involve collaborating directly with suppliers across Europe and Asia to bring these concepts to life.
This position is not merely about coordination; you will be responsible for tooling, supplier management, and ensuring successful outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
You will oversee the entire process from design to production readiness for critical components:
Manage technical supplier relationships for all essential production tooling, including injection molds, stamping dies, casting tooling, and complex assemblies.
Engage with suppliers to validate design manufacturability, providing clear, actionable feedback on feasibility, tolerances, finishes, and lead times.
Make informed design freeze decisions based on real-world validations. You will approve parts based on their actual manufacturability.
Lead First Off Tool (FOT) and sample approvals on-site at supplier locations, determining whether tooling is production-ready or requires further iterations.
Establish and maintain a robust supply base for injection molded parts, sheet metal, fluid components, and electronics.
Manage the transition from Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) to Production BOM, ensuring supplier validation, lead times, and tooling status are confirmed before production begins.
Collaborate closely with the Procurement team; while they handle commercial aspects, you will focus on technical execution and tooling success.
Work in conjunction with the Engineering team to integrate supplier insights back into design until products are fully manufacturable.
What we create is only as effective as how it's manufactured.
You will ensure that our products are not only visually appealing but also capable of being produced on a large scale, maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 4 days at our office located in Houthavens, Amsterdam.
