Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (Contractor) to lead the development and enhancement of our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role focused on the design, operation, troubleshooting, and migration of infrastructure towards infrastructure-as-code (IaC). You will collaborate with backend and platform engineers in deploying services developed in Java, Kotlin, and Python on Kubernetes (GKE).
The ideal candidate must possess strong technical judgment, independence, and effective communication skills to drive outcomes.
AI-Driven Infrastructure Engineering
We are purposefully creating an AI-assisted engineering organization, where AI tools are integral to our daily workflows.
Practical Applications Include:
Regular use of AI tools such as Claude (Opus), Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot
AI-supported generation of Terraform / OpenTofu, Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and automation scripts
AI-assisted log analysis, troubleshooting, and observability improvements
AI-enhanced documentation, runbooks, and post-mortems
You will be responsible for reviewing, validating, and securing all AI-generated outputs. While speed is important, accuracy and security are paramount.
This position is not suitable for those who resist AI-assisted workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
Design, operate, and sustain production infrastructure on GCP
Oversee and optimize GKE (Kubernetes) clusters, workloads, and networking
Manage Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) and Redis instances
Govern IAM roles, service accounts, and enforce least-privilege access
Administer DNS with OctoDNS across Google DNS and Cloudflare
Ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Implement infrastructure as code practices
Automate deployments and maintenance tasks
