The Role
As a Senior Conveyor Engineer, you will spearhead the installation and operational activities related to manufacturing conveyor systems across GM facilities, ensuring adherence to both industry and GM standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in layout development, supporting manufacturing processes, integrating lean principles for cost-effective designs, and collaborating on material presentation for operator assembly.
This position entails managing multiple plants and large-scale projects, grasping the integrated supplier model, and supervising project schedules and budgets. You will engage with cross-functional teams and external partners, showcasing your creativity, initiative, and independent judgment in a dynamic setting.
Travel requirements will vary based on project needs, potentially reaching up to 50%. All conveyor engineers in the department may be called upon to assist with execution projects that could necessitate monthly travel.
What You’ll Do
Lead complex conveyor projects from engineering and fabrication to installation and start-up across GM assembly plants in North America.
Oversee multiple conveyor projects and equipment installations, ensuring compliance with GM standards and safety protocols.
Create project timelines and manage the financial components of conveyor execution.
Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to facilitate project execution and address operational challenges.
Champion lean conveyor designs to minimize costs while enhancing material presentation for assembly.
Utilize GM documentation and uphold conveyor specifications and standards.
Develop innovative solutions for conveyor-related challenges and monitor deliverables to ensure timely completion.
