The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust understanding of public sector economics and policy, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, and sustainability. Familiarity with both current and emerging research methodologies and analytical tools is essential. We seek a driven team player eager to contribute to the development and communication of innovative approaches for analyzing public expenditure within a collaborative framework. This position is tailored for a self-motivated individual aspiring to progress their career in a dynamic environment.
The Dublin economics team is part of a 600-member Transportation Consulting group operating throughout the UK and Ireland. The team offers economic insights for transportation and infrastructure projects and takes a collaborative approach to its work. Responsibilities include preparing Economic Impact Assessments and appraisal documents, including cost-benefit analyses, ensuring compliance with Infrastructure Guidelines (IGs) and Public Spending Code (PSC). The team evaluates public spending programs, focuses on establishing an evidence base for policy, provides economic counsel to various government departments and policymakers, and engages with private sector clients.
Our current project portfolio encompasses a wide array of studies. Highlights of recent projects include:
Research and evaluation services for Transport Infrastructure Ireland, including contributions to their Project Appraisal Guidelines, major project evaluations, business case development, and sustainability integration into transport schemes.
Leading the Detailed Business Case for the DART+ initiative, a significant capital investment project aimed at transforming Dublin’s heavy rail network. This role involves collaboration with AECOM’s transport modeling team to assess the economic and financial implications of the program and support the business case documentation.
Economic advisory services for the National Transport Authority of Ireland, including drafting guidelines for ex-post assessments, reviewing business case submissions, and creating detailed business cases for active travel investments.
Long-term collaboration with Failte Ireland to formulate early-stage business cases and strategic assessments for various tourism-related investments across Ireland.
