Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is actively searching for a highly skilled Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in either our Charlotte, NC or Stonington, CT office. This is a direct hire, in-office position and is not eligible for remote work.
Position Overview: The selected candidate will be instrumental in executing a range of engineering and design tasks related to upgrades and new projects in nuclear power plants. A deep understanding of power plant systems, components, and structures within the civil/structural engineering discipline is essential. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and preparing modifications, as well as independently evaluating, selecting, and applying relevant standards and techniques for technical projects. Familiarity with industry codes and standards, as well as NRC regulations, is crucial.
Typical responsibilities involve developing specifications and modification packages, defining design scope, creating design criteria documents, and selecting equipment and instruments to enhance system functionality. The role also includes managing project budgets, schedules, and quality with minimal oversight, requiring innovative approaches to tackle technical challenges.
Collaboration is key, as the individual will interface with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives. The ability to work within project teams, assess conditions, and propose modifications for improved plant performance, safety, and reliability is vital. Additionally, experience in reviewing designs and mentoring junior engineers is expected.
