We are seeking a Senior Associate General Counsel to join our Franchise Brands Legal Department at Compass International Holdings, which encompasses prestigious franchised brands such as Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate, CENTURY 21®, Coldwell Banker®, Coldwell Banker Commercial®, Corcoran®, Christie’s International Real Estate, ERA®, Sotheby’s International Realty®, and @properties®.
This position is fully onsite at our offices located in New York City, Madison (NJ), Los Angeles, or San Francisco.
The Senior Associate General Counsel will play a crucial role in reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and providing legal counsel on franchise sales and renewals, addenda to existing agreements, ongoing rights and obligations, new product development, marketing initiatives, vendor contracts, franchisee disputes, and compliance matters. This position will also advise senior management on strategic legal matters.
This role involves close collaboration with shared service departments that support our franchised brands, including Franchise Sales, Franchise Enablement, Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, and Cross-Brand Marketing.
Additionally, the Senior Associate General Counsel will coordinate with corporate legal functions, including Litigation, IT, Intellectual Property, and Employment Law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate franchise agreements and related documents to facilitate business growth and retention.
- Negotiate vendor contracts, preferably with experience in SaaS and Information Technology.
- Review marketing materials for legal compliance.
- Provide expert legal advice on laws, regulations, and compliance affecting the business.
- Guide business clients on achieving success while minimizing legal risks.
- Partner with various business units on critical initiatives.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential legal issues early on.
