THE ROLE
As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will be at the forefront of emergency care, aiding your team, comforting pet owners, and gaining invaluable on-the-job experience from day one. Your role encompasses triage, treatment support, and celebrating every tail wag. This position is a stepping stone for those aspiring to become credentialed technicians or those exploring their career passions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a warm welcome to incoming patients, assisting with triage and guiding them towards necessary care.
- Support treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in anesthesia and sedation case management.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Assist in all aspects of care, from outpatient to inpatient settings.
- Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
- Learn CPR techniques and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided!).
- Advance into more complex responsibilities as your skills develop.
