Position Overview
As a Recreation Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of recreation programs and services. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team to design and deliver engaging activities tailored to the unique interests and needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Recreation Therapist to create therapeutic recreation programs.
- Implement recreation participation initiatives aligned with patient interests.
- Contribute to the recreation therapy intervention plan and effectively communicate significant changes to the Recreation Therapy team and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate as a member of interprofessional teams.
- Supervise volunteers, high school co-op students, and college placement students as required.
- Maintain accurate records for Recreation Therapy, including GRASP, MDS, and recreation statistics.
- Conduct ongoing informal evaluations of recreation programs.
- Identify program requirements such as facilities, budget, equipment, and supplies, and manage procurement as necessary.
- Prepare promotional materials, employee expense forms, equipment setup requests, and other documentation as needed.
- Support the orientation and mentorship of new staff members.
- Seek continuous learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to recreation therapy.
- Utilize evidence-informed, person-centered practices in recreation therapy.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proactively identify and address safety issues.
