Under general supervision, the Architectural Assistant II will engage in a diverse range of architectural responsibilities, both in the office and in the field, related to architectural design and the provision of comprehensive architectural services for city construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
As per Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the following duties are representative of the types of tasks assigned to this role and are not an exhaustive list.
- Develops and designs preliminary architectural drawings, plans, elevations, and sections for various building, landscape, and maintenance projects. This includes calculating dimensions and creating component parts in accordance with established landscape architectural practices, symbols, and drafting techniques.
- Conducts site visits for routine field observations to ensure compliance with contract documents and shop drawings; takes field measurements and documents existing conditions.
- Assists in drafting contract specifications, documents, and preliminary cost estimates for construction or conversion of buildings and/or landscape projects.
- Supports the coordination and review of architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure compliance with design, programming, and legal standards.
- Participates in meetings with design professionals, consulting engineers, contractors, and agencies to address and resolve project-related issues.
- Prepares written reports, summaries, and correspondence related to architectural activities.
