The Office of the District Attorney for Bronx County (BXDA) is dedicated to promoting public safety and ensuring equitable justice for the diverse community of over 1.4 million residents in the Bronx. To further this mission, BXDA is seeking a highly qualified Property Clerk for the Property Release Unit. This role will involve assisting in the process of releasing property to defendants and complaining witnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enter property release requests into the application system.
- Complete and process requests for supervisor review of deferrals.
- Distribute written responses from the ADA to claimants.
- Coordinate with the property release unit ADA to resolve complications.
- Clarify property release protocols and address related inquiries from claimants.
- Maintain accurate call logs while answering phones.
- Engage with attorneys and civilians seeking property retrieval.
- Verify IDs and subpoenas from witnesses and visitors, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Notify ADAs and Crime Victim staff upon the arrival of witnesses and victims, ensuring they are directed to suitable waiting areas.
- Keep thorough and precise records of all witnesses in the bureau’s logbook.
- Verify property ownership.
- Perform routine office duties such as filing, record keeping, and data entry.
- Collaborate with interpreters and assist Assistant District Attorneys in securing interpreter services when necessary.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
