Are you an accomplished Project Management professional with a track record in overseeing intricate Defence infrastructure projects? Join AECOM’s expanding Defence team and play a pivotal role in delivering some of the UK's most significant and high-profile programmes that support the Armed Forces both domestically and internationally.
Our projects encompass the complete Defence estate, including accommodation, training, and operational facilities, as well as secure technology, aviation, and specialized infrastructure. As a vital member of our integrated delivery team, you will help conceptualize, plan, and execute projects that directly enhance the UK's Defence capabilities, ensuring our Armed Forces have the necessary facilities to operate safely and effectively.
Your Role
As a Project Manager specializing in Defence Infrastructure, you will integrate into a well-established programme and project management team within AECOM’s Defence division. You will facilitate multi-disciplinary teams in delivering projects throughout all RIBA stages, from initial concept and feasibility studies through to design, procurement, construction, and final handover.
This role requires managing NEC contracts (PSC and ECC), ensuring adherence to MOD and DIO governance standards, while collaborating closely with client stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to achieve assured, value-oriented outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
Support and, where appropriate, lead the successful execution of Defence infrastructure projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with DIO, JSP, and MOD approvals frameworks.
Provide project support to multidisciplinary teams to ensure delivery meets programme, budget, and quality standards.
Act as the NEC Project Manager or Client Representative, delivering clear contract and commercial management.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with DIO, TLBs, and site users, promoting collaboration across various organizations.
Assist in the development of junior project managers, graduates, and apprentices through mentoring and hands-on learning opportunities.
Ensure projects meet sustainability, security, and safety standards as per AECOM’s and MOD’s governance requirements.
