Position Overview
The Project Manager (PM) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating projects to ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant completion while adhering to the highest quality standards. Our PMs lead project teams and steer the project from initial estimating through to final completion, ensuring compliance with company protocols.
Location: San Diego, CA with expected travel to designated project sites across the greater San Diego area.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with Executive Management, Estimating, Field Operations, and key stakeholders to delineate project scope and formulate a project execution plan while prioritizing staff safety.
- Comply with all safety protocols and policies to foster a secure working environment.
- Organize pre-planning sessions and establish project budgets.
- Develop a feasible schedule for job cost control, labor, materials, and equipment.
- Define project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Conduct regular project reviews with the Executive Management Team from inception to completion.
- Hold weekly meetings with field staff to monitor progress.
- Collaborate with Purchasing on all equipment and material procurement.
- Oversee all financial elements of the contract; generate quarterly cost-to-complete reports.
- Prepare monthly invoices for submission to General Contractors or project owners.
- Review and approve monthly subcontractor billing.
- Represent Murray Company in project-related meetings.
- Assist in labor negotiations and strategy development.
- Document emerging issues and communicate with management.
- In the absence of the Project Engineer, assume all responsibilities associated with that role.
- Take on additional tasks as directed by corporate management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or substantial experience and understanding of industrial construction and engineering design principles.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management within the construction industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
