The Project Manager is responsible for the effective oversight of project planning, execution, and monitoring for a defined short-term project, ensuring that all goals and deliverables are met within the established timeline.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Project Planning
Collaborate with senior management to define the project scope and objectives.
Develop a comprehensive work plan to outline the necessary activities for successful project completion.
Identify required resources (time, budget, equipment) to achieve project goals.
Create a schedule that efficiently allocates resources to various activities.
Review the project timeline with senior management and involved personnel, making adjustments as necessary.
Establish criteria for evaluating project success upon completion.
Team Management
In conjunction with the relevant manager, recruit, interview, and select qualified staff and/or volunteers.
Manage project team members according to the organization’s policies.
Maintain confidentiality of personnel files and ensure all project team members receive proper orientation.
Engage consultants as needed for specific project tasks.
Project Implementation
Execute the project according to the established plan.
Create documentation forms and records to track project activities.
Set up secure file systems for all project-related information.
Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.
Establish a communication schedule to keep stakeholders informed of project status.
Regularly review work quality with the project team to ensure compliance with standards.
Project Control
Prepare regular reports on project status for management and funders.
Communicate with funders as stipulated in funding agreements.
Oversee budget expenditures and monitor cash flow, reporting variances to senior management regularly.
Manage project funds according to established financial policies, ensuring all financial records are current.
Prepare financial reports and documentation as required by funders.
