Position Overview: Product Design Lead
We are on the lookout for a Product Design Lead to elevate the quality, coherence, and uniqueness of our product experience. This role is critical in accelerating the transformation of strong ideas into tangible outcomes.
This is a leadership role, distinct from an individual contributor position at the squad level. You will guide a small team of Product Designers alongside a Senior UX Researcher, partnering closely with Product and Engineering leadership. The Product team will focus on commercial intent, while Engineering will ensure feasibility and execution. You will be accountable for the integrity, clarity, and effectiveness of the user experience across various squads.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Experience Direction, Quality, and Impact
You will oversee the standard of user experience throughout the product ecosystem.
Your Tasks Include:
- Initiating high-impact projects at the early stages, before a clear direction is established.
- Ensuring that key journeys, particularly in discovery and conversion, are intentional, distinct, and commercially viable.
- Defining clear experience principles and quality benchmarks.
- Mitigating incremental drift that can compromise coherence over time.
- Integrating research meaningfully into product decisions.
Should the user experience become fragmented, generic, or reactive, you are expected to recalibrate the direction.
2. Velocity through Improved Decision-Making
Your role involves eliminating ambiguity that may hinder team progress.
Your Tasks Include:
- Bolstering problem framing to ensure teams are building the right solutions.
- Enhancing discovery and prototyping methodologies to facilitate earlier decision-making.
- Clarifying cross-functional trade-offs between ambition, feasibility, and commercial priorities.
- Minimizing late-stage design revisions through stronger upfront alignment.
