As a Procurement Executive at Malayan Flour Mills Berhad, you will play a crucial role in planning, sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials to meet the organization’s needs. Your efforts will ensure compliance with organizational principles and governmental regulations, while also securing the best possible prices and terms for our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor business demand to develop inventory replenishment strategies, identify optimal suppliers, and finalize purchases with the most advantageous suppliers for the organization.
- Conduct thorough sourcing, compilation, negotiation, and evaluation of supplier pricing, specifications, and terms to ensure that we engage the most favorable suppliers when products and services are needed.
- Analyze market trends and commodity pricing factors (e.g., weather conditions) to inform strategic purchasing decisions that impact raw material costs.
- Regularly review and update product cost components to accurately identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) for issuing purchase orders (POs) to guarantee timely delivery of procured materials, thus avoiding operational disruptions.
- Track shipping movements to ensure timely arrivals of ordered items, while considering environmental factors (e.g., tides) to minimize delays at the plant.
- Communicate with the receiving team to provide a comprehensive list of expected deliveries, including specifications, quantities, and quality parameters, ensuring items meet organizational expectations.
- In cases of unavoidable delays, take initiative to troubleshoot and collaborate with freight handlers, logistics providers, and suppliers to propose viable solutions while mitigating delivery risk.
- Reconcile any unfulfilled deliveries with suppliers, claim damages through insurance, and manage compensation for unmet conditions while compiling necessary documentation for processing.
- Coordinate with relevant parties including suppliers, transporters, and customs agents to facilitate efficient operational processes, including deliveries and documentation.
- Process indent and local shipping documents to ensure timely arrival and unloading of goods for plant processing.
